Control two monitor : Windows 7 aero snap feature

Posted on 03:52 by Unknown

The Windows 7 support its aero interface not only looks great but also include a lot of useful features; one of the best is "aero snap" or "windows snap", a way to move open windows around quickly. Using aero snap is a little tricky at first, but with some practice, you'll get the hang of it(Fix Windows 7 hang up). Windows 7 provides a new feature which is called "Aero Snap". You can minimize, maximize, resize window by just dragging-dropping it to the screen corners. It is very useful and interesting feature in Windows 7.

For a Single Display

Windows Key + Left Arrow = Snap the current active window to the left side of the screen or unsnap a window that is snapped to the right side of the screen.

Windows Key + Right Arrow = Snap the current active window to the right side of the screen, or unsnap a window that is snapped to the left side of the screen.

Windows Key + Up Arrow = Maximize the current active window to full screen.

Windows Key + Down Arrow = Minimize the current active window to the taskbar.

Control Windows 7 aero snap feature with two monitors
(also find here..how to fix windows 7 computer freeze problem..)

If you have two monitors then the far left side would be on the left side of monitor and the far right side would be on the right side of monitor. If you want the window to snap to the side that crosses over to the other monitor, then you can only use the keyboard shortcuts below to do so.

Windows 7 support snap changes the way you resize open windows on your desktop. By dragging a window to the edge of your screen, it will allow you to maximize it, stand side-by-side or stretch it vertically. Snap works on all versions of Windows 7.

For a Dual Display

·         Active window on right display:

Windows Key + Right Arrow = Snap to the right on the right display.

Windows Key + Left Arrow = Snap to the left on the right display.

Windows Key + Left Arrow + Left Arrow (Left arrow two times) = Snap to the right on the left display (change display).

·          Active window on left display:

Windows Key + Left Arrow = Snap to the left on the left display.

Windows Key + Right Arrow = Snap to the right o the left display.

Windows Key + Right Arrow + Right Arrow) = Snap to the left on the right display (change display).

Note: On multiple monitors, continually pressing a keyboard shortcut combination below will cause the window to snap to the side and scroll in that direction through the multiple monitor screens.

What are the Windows A: and B: drives used for?

Posted on 02:52 by Unknown

In Windows you have a C: drive. Everything labeled beyond that is with the following letter. So your second drive is D: ,your DVD is E: and if you put in a USB stick it becomes F: and the following drive G:. And so on and so forth. But then, what and where are A: and B: drive?

The early CP/M and IBM PC style computers had no hard drive. You had one floppy drive, and that was it. If you had only one drive it was common to boot from one disk, put in the other disk with your programs and data then run the program. Once the program finished, the computer would request that you reinsert the boot disk so you could use the command line again. It Copying data from one disk to the other was a series of "Please insert source disk into drive A:... Please insert destination disk into drive A:... Please insert source disk into drive A:... . . ."

By the time hard drives became very cheap and the expensive computers typically had two floppy drives (one to boot and run common programs, one to save data and run specific programs). And so it was common for the motherboard hardware to support two floppy drives at fixed system addresses. It was built into the hardware. It was thought that building the same requirement into the OS was acceptable and any hard drives added to the machine would start with disk C: and so forth.

A lot of software was developed since that time, and unfortunately much of it expected to see long-term storage on the C: drive. This includes the BIOS software that boots the computer. You can still attach two floppy drives, boot into DOS 6.1, and use it as you would have in the early 90's, with floppy drives A and B.

So largely the reason for starting the hard drive at C is for backwards compatibility and you can assign the letters C through Z to each drive on your computer. A and B are usually reserved for floppy disk drives, but if your computer does not have floppy disk drives, you can assign A and B to volumes.
