How to Add Registry Editor to Control Panel

Posted on 22:43 by Unknown
It’s always struck me as odd that system tweakers use the registry editor all the time to fix annoyances in Windows, but nobody has created a tweak to add the registry editor to the control panel… until now.

I’ve created a registry hack to add the registry editor as another option in the Control Panel in any version of Windows.

Note:- I do not recommend you doing this unless you are comfortable editing the Windows Settings. I will not responsible for any damage that may be caused to your PC after editing the settings by following the steps below. You proceed at your own risk or may take help from Microsoft Certified Technician at their Toll Free No. +1-877-452-9201

Usage in Windows 7 or Vista

  • After installation you’ll need to choose System and Maintenance in the control panel.
  • And you’ll see the new Registry Editor item at the bottom of the list:
  • Perhaps most useful, it’s now available through the start menu search box.

Usage in Windows XP

After installation you’ll see the new icon in Control Panel if you choose the classic view.

Installation

Just extract and double-click on the installation script. You can remove using the included removal script.

How to Disable SuperFetch on Windows Vista

Posted on 22:35 by Unknown

The SuperFetch service in Windows Vista preloads your system’s memory with the applications that you use most often. This makes launching of those applications much faster, but it might be an unwanted behavior for system tweakers or gamers.

There’s no hard evidence that enabling or disabling this service will increase performance in general, but if you open and close applications often you should definitely leave it alone. You will have to test your configuration to know for sure.

Note that I don’t recommend disabling this service, but we try to cover how to do everything on Vista.
  • Open up Services in Control Panel or by typing services.msc into the Start menu search or run boxes.

  • Double-click on Superfetch in the list to open up the properties, and then change the drop-down to “Disabled”. You can also click Stop to immediately turn it off.

  • I don’t recommend this tweak for regular users, but somebody might find it useful.

Computer fraud: Microsoft is not calling

Posted on 01:24 by Unknown
WOODSTOCK – If you get a call from someone claiming to work for Microsoft, it's likely a scam.

The Woodstock Police Service has received a number of complaints in recent days from city residents who have received these phone calls. The caller invariably claims to be a Microsoft representative and tells the victim about a "serious virus problem" on their home computer.

As part of the fraud, the caller tells the victim to perform a number of specific tasks on the computer that actually allows the suspect to remotely access the machine. The suspect can then steal data from the computer, including passwords and other sensitive information. The caller has also attempted to collect credit card information from the victim to "pay for the service" that was allegedly performed.

The Woodstock Police Service is reminding city residents to be extremely vigilant with the information they provide to persons over the phone or on their computers.

The Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre is an excellent source of information about current scams and how to avoid becoming a victim. The centre can be found at www.antifraudcentre-centreantifraude.ca. The RCMP also has an Internet safety information section at www.rcmp-grc.gc.ca/is-si.

How to Recover PST File Password in Microsoft Outlook

Posted on 00:14 by Unknown

The article intends to help users recover their .pst file password in Microsoft Outlook using simple methods. The methods described in the article are reliable and correct to the date. Failure or success of any method entirely depends on how correctly you follow the instructions.

A PST (.pst) file is a personal storage file that Microsoft Outlook uses to store all the data including emails, contacts, calendar entries, journals, and attachments among other information used by Outlook. Though it is not necessary, but users who are concerned of unauthorized access password-protect these .pst files. It is common for us to forget or misplace passwords and then face difficulty accessing our emails, files, folders etc. Don’t worry as we are here to help you with all the common Microsoft Outlook problems that often demand expert Microsoft technical help. Below are the step by step instructions that will help you recover the password of your .pst file.

Automatic Procedure –

There are various automatic Outlook .pst password recovery tools available on different websites. Some of them include PSTPassword, a free software, Advanced Outlook Repair, Recovery Toolbox, Outlook Password Recovery, and Password Recovery Engine among others. You can choose a free or paid version according to your convenience. Once you have zeroed on a particular program, download it from the website, save the file to your desktop or another location where you can easily access it from, and run it. Wait until the process finishes and brings up the password of your .pst file.

Manual Procedure –

It is not possible for a normal (even advanced) user to manually recover the password of a .pst file when it is lost. It is due to the complex structure of the Windows that stores password somewhere on the hard drive. However, you can either setup a new password (of course you are going to remember this until you lost it again) or free your .pst file from the password using these methods. Launch Outlook; enter the password if it requires you to. Click on the File tab and select Data File Management from the list. When the Account Settings window opens up, click on Personal Folders under the Data Files tab, and then click on the Settings button just above Personal Folders. Click on the Change Password button under the General tab. Type the password you want in the New Password box, retype the password in the Verify password box, put a checkmark in the box Save this password in your password list, and click on the OK button when finished. Click on the Close button to close the Account Settings window. If you want, you can leave the New password and Verify password fields blank to keep the file without password.

To remove the password from .pst file, you can also use the pst19upg.exe and Scanpst.exe utilities in your Windows. Pst19upg.exe is a command and Scanpst.exe is a utility that should be under C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\OfficeXX (where XX denotes the version number). The default location of the .pst file(s) is \Users\your username\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Outlook

Cannot Start Microsoft Outlook : Fix Error Message

Posted on 23:02 by Unknown
You double-click the Microsoft Outlook icon, and after few seconds, there it is an annoying error message “Cannot start Microsoft Outlook”. Microsoft Outlook requires Microsoft Outlook Express 4.01 or greater. You can install Outlook Express by running Add/Remove Programs from the Control Panel. You could try searching Microsoft's knowledge-base, only to find the solutions apply to Windows 2000. And Outlook Express is installed and running just fine, and you're running Windows XP!

Note:- Before following the steps below, I do not recommend you doing this unless you are comfortable editing the Windows Settings. I will not responsible for any damage that may be caused to your PC after editing the settings by following the steps below. You proceed at your own risk or may take help from Microsoft Certified Technician at their Toll Free No. +1-877-452-9201

Steps to Resolve Cannot Start Microsoft Outlook Issue:-
  • Click Start>Run>type regedit and hit Enter. Navigate to the following registry key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Active Setup\Installed Components\{44BBAB40-CC51-11CF-AAFA-00AA00B6015C}.
  • Highlight the registry key and then locate the REG_DWORD values IsInstalled under Microsoft Outlook Express 6 and MailNews. If either of the values are set to 0, change them to 1. To do this, right click on the REG_DWORD values and select Modify. In the Value Data form field, enter 1 and click OK. Close out regedit and start Outlook.
  • But wait! I have the registry key {44BBAB40-CC51-11CF-AAFA-00AA00B6015C} but it's in a folder called Autoruns Disabled listed at the bottom of Installed Components. Good; this step applies to you then. Download and install the program Autoruns listed in the resources section (or if you ran Autoruns, run it again).
  • Locate the file Autoruns.zip. Right-click the file and then click "Extract All..." and save the file in the default location. Click the "Extract" button. The Autoruns folder opens. Double-click Autoruns.exe. Click "Run." Now, locate the registry key mentioned in Step 1. Place a check next to each entry of Outlook. Close out of Autoruns and double-click on your Outlook icon to start Outlook.

Reasons of Windows 7 Slow Performance

    Posted on 04:39 by Unknown
The article intends to educate customers about reasons that cause Windows 7 to perform slowly. The information has been compiled from various sources and is only for informational purposes. Other than the causes described in this article, your computer may perform slow due to internal technical glitches or unintentionally designed flaws in the operating system.

Windows 7, the most sought operating system among Windows and even Non-Windows users, has changed the computing experience of users who were frustrated with Windows Vista or upgraded from Windows XP or earlier versions. Though Windows 7 comprises a host of new features, updates, and tools etc., it tends to show its darker side by frequently performing slow. We all know that no hardware or software in this world is free from technical errors. Windows 7 is therefore no exception.

Are you one of those users who are facing slow performance issue in your Windows 7? Do you want to know what can cause it to behave like that? If yes, then the article is for you. Below are the common reasons due to which Windows 7 performs sluggish:

Faulty hardware piece attached to the computer – It often happens that a piece of hardware starts malfunctioning suddenly due to a number of reasons. You might not come to know about the hardware problem as it may not be apparent. You may only find your PC performing slow or behaving eerily. You can identify the hardware issue by rebooting your computer in the Safe Mode. Since Windows loads without drivers and software etc. in Safe Mode, you will get to know if it’s a hardware or software issue.

Corrupted/faulty driver(s) – Drivers are small applications (software) that establish interaction between a hardware and software. These drivers always need to be updated with latest updates whenever these are available. Often, drivers go missing or corrupted due to several reasons such as virus infections, upgrading or updating Windows or hardware etc. To get rid of this problem, replace the faulty or damaged driver with new one. It is recommended to install the latest and compatible drivers for Windows and update them regularly. You can your hardware vendor’s website for drivers. You can also check Microsoft’s website for the list the compatible drivers with your hardware.

Virus infections – Did you ever imagine that viruses, spyware, malware like infections can ever make your Windows 7 perform slowly? If you never, then you must know that infections do make your computer behave oddly, slow performance is one among these odd behavior symptoms. These infections when enter your computer, eat up the memory of your computer, corrupt the files, load it with more viruses, spyware infections etc., and thus cause it to perform sluggish or shutdown, reboot in a continuous loop. It is recommended to run the full system scan from your antivirus program. If it finds infections in the scan results, command it to remove the infections. You should also update your antivirus program on a regular basis.

Software slagheap – Though Windows 7 is designed to run lots of and heavy applications simultaneously, however if you run more than required applications, you may find it performing sluggish. For example, you may have two antivirus programs simultaneously installed and operating in your computer.  To get rid of this problem, you will be required to operate only the programs that you really need on your computer.

How to delete the address bar history

    Posted on 03:15 by Unknown
Address Bar is a text box to enter a web address in a web browser. Web browsers allow users to click the down arrow to display the pages recently visited. Therefore, the history of the address bar shows some of the websites you have visited recently and anyone who has access to your computer, when start typing in the address bar you gets a combo with the URL of websites they visited.

When you use Internet Explorer to browse a website and do it directly by typing the URL into the address bar, the URL you have entered will be saved. This is useful for its own use, but if you use a computer by a work colleague (or wife, even disgusting), and the URL you typed is, hmmm ... how shall I say a little suspicious, then the URL can be seen by other users by pulling on the list..

Address bar in Internet Explorer web browser history can be easily viewed by clicking the down arrow on the right side of the text field the address bar. You can prevent others from seeing the history of sites you have recently visited or searched for you should regularly delete the address bar history.

Steps to erase Address bar history in Internet Explorer :-

    • Select "Tools"
    • Select "Internet Options".
    • Open the "General" tab.
    • In "Browsing history" area click the "Delete" button.
    • To delete Address bar history, click "Delete history" and then click Yes.
    • Click Close and then click OK.

Steps to Break Windows 7 Password

    Posted on 05:23 by Unknown
Setting a strong and uncommon windows 7 password for one's PC is usually a great method to guard computer system, but you tend to forget Windows 7 password. Then what to do if we are locked out of computer? The following will show you two universal guards to break Windows 7 password

Windows 7 Password Key is made to reset lost password for Microsoft Windows 7/Vista/XP/2000 and Server 2003/2008, which may also help you develop this sort of a key recovery bootable disk to reset Windows 7 code, you require a blank CD/DVD or maybe a USB. Then follow the given below steps:
    • Download Windows Password Key. In this step, you need to log in any available computer not yours (as you can't log in your computer) download the tool and install it on that computer.
    • Make a bootable CD/DVD or USB reset disk. In this process, you are required a blank CD/DVD or just a 2 GB USB. Run the program and burn the ISO image file to the disk.
    • Turn to your locked pc, insert the disk. Your computer needs to be start from this disk. How should you do that? By Changing the bios setup, Press F2 when Windows starts, then use the allow keys to the BOOT tab. And select the CD-ROM (for DVD/CD) or Removable Devices (for USB devices) to the first.
    • Break Windows 7 password. The designed Windows 7 password recovery disk can safely and very easily reset forgotten Windows 7 password, it saves you much more time and trouble than reinstalling Windows OS, and will not likely get rid of any data in your personal computer. You can also reset your windows 7 password in safe mode.

Windows 8 RTM Release Coming in April 2012

      Posted on 00:42 by Unknown
After a series of roadmap leaks and range estimates, it looks like we’re really close to nailing an exact date for Windows 8 RTM at this point.

According to sources of Mary-Jo Foley at ZDNet, the Windows 8 Release to Manufacturer (RTM) is presumed to occur in April 2012 – less than a year away from right now and in accordance with Microsoft’s assertion of release in the first half of 2012.

There will be a multitude of Windows 8 versions, including 32-bit, 64-bit, and ARM/SoC versions to be all released simultaneously. The source also has mentioned that Microsoft will release a real beta this September at the BUILD Conference 2011, which is when IE 10 is supposed to be introduced as well.

The BUILD Conference itself, according to the website, “is a new event that shows modern hardware and software developers how to take advantage of the future of Windows.” and that “BUILD will show you that Windows 8 changes everything.” It would make sense for Microsoft to debut the beta during this time, especially since Microsoft already stated that Windows 8 would come with IE10 during the Computex 2011 demo of Windows 8.

Windows 8 should be available to consumers sometime in Q2 of 2012, just in time for the back-to-school season. Microsoft is anxious to make a release in time for the holidays, not looking forward to repeating its mistake with Vista, which was released in January 2007.

Main features of Internet Explorer 9

      Posted on 04:58 by Unknown
Internet Explorer 9 browser is one of the most popular browser by Microsoft.  IE9 is giving healthy competition to Mozilla Firefox and Google Chrome because of smart features, brilliant appearance and strong security. I must suggest that Internet Explorer 9 is a browser that should be installed immediately on any new or old computer. It has literally changed the way we use the web pages. The main feature of Internet Explorer 9 is the ability to treat web pages as if they are true application in Windows 7. I mentioned Windows 7 because  Internet Explorer 9 is not available for Windows XP.

Take for example a very popular website, Facebook . If the user drags the icon or tab to the Windows task bar will automatically create an icon on the toolbar will work like any other application. Clicking on this icon will open a new window only with the Facebook website and the colored buttons to match the visual style of it. As a bonus, if any new message or notification, the icon will have a small red indicator to let us know immediately. It's like you have installed a Facebook application to have always available.

Another useful example is email. If, like me, you are one of those of you who like to have their email always open and have direct access to your favorite email service in the Windows taskbar is quite useful, especially when right clicking on the icon we have direct access the most common tasks such as writing a new post or view the calendar.

Of course web page developers have to support these new features to take advantage of the full potential of Internet Explorer 9, but Microsoft has taken the initiative for a large number of services from Twitter to the New York Times squeeze the browser. Microsoft says that by offering users the ability to save your favorite websites and applications they most frequently visit the page or remain open longer.

Of course there are more improvements to Internet Explorer 9 they are back with the ability to compete against Firefox and Chrome. One of the most interesting is the graphics acceleration, which explains in simple means that Web pages with many graphics and videos will go much faster. In fact technology experts in various publications have come to declare that this new graphics acceleration will allow the emergence of a new class of web applications.
